Kirklees Issues BAFOs for £100m Social Housing PFI
7 December 2007
Kirklees Metropolitan Borough Council has invited the two bidders for its £100m social housing project to submit BAFOs, Infra-News has learnt. A source at the council confirmed that the request for BAFOs was sent earlier this week to the two remaining candidates, which include: - Regenter (Regenter/ Pinnacle/ Wates); - South Yorkshire Housing Association (Bramel).
An update from the council on the evaluation process is expected in the new year, with the announcement of a preferred bidder anticipated in late summer 2008. The procuring authority is being advised by Grant Thornton (financial) and Walker Morris (legal).
The project, which has been awarded £100m of PFI credits, involves the construction and maintenance of 550 new rented housing units and provision of services to the accommodation (including building and grounds maintenance, repair and maintenance services of building installations, building cleaning, housing management, building and facilities management and welfare services including catering, laundry operation services, household refuse disposal and pest control) over a 25-year service contract.
